Although listed at 3.6 miles, this trail may be combined with Mill Shoals via the Cooper Creek Trail to form a 6 mile walk. Most of this trail is well marked, but on occasion they are difficult to find. After climbing Yellow Mountain the trail splits. We have not walked the northern spur recently, but the trail continues north along a ridge to Shope Gap where it crosses a small creek and terminates at Bryant Creek Road. This trail spur is moderately difficult.
By far the most popular trail in the Cooper Creek Scenic Area, the trailhead is a few hundred feet north of the parking area at the creek and is very well marked. The path climbs a few steps and then begins rising and is actually easy, climbing less than 800 feet to the top of Yellow Mountain. Outstanding views of the Scenic Area are best from fall to late spring, but are year round. After crossing this peak the path descends to Addis Gap, winding down the mountain. Toward Addis Gap the path crosses Bryant Creek on a split-log bridge.
