This is a short leg-stretch that ends at Denton Branch Falls. It takes a lot longer to get here than it does to walk the trail. Besides the scenic falls, the area is rich in history. Tate City, which is nearby, is one of the oldest settled areas in the north Georgia mountains. A mining community, Tallulah River Road(FS 70) is still called Old Tate City Road, for this was the only way in or out.

After the corundum was tapped out, a significant logging community developed. The trees were transported to the Byrd-Mathews lumber mill in Helen along a narrow-gauge railroad built expressly for this purpose. After the over-foresting of these mountains this resource also dried up. Today this sparsely populated area is a frequent destination for hiking, picnics and camping, and television crews. A number of commercials and, according to the Towns County Chamber of Commerce, a movie was shot in the area.

From the parking area that is frequently used for camping, cross Denton Branch on some well-place rocks. Continue on the road until it turns left. The path comes off the road to the right. Follow this back to Denton Branch and the falls. When we last visited the falls, during the drought year of 1999, they were poor.
