Check out the big ?spruce? about 30 ft from the upper overlook. FYI, I've been here in a kayak when the water went all the way to the base of the falls. Normally, there are some shoals under the bridge.

This trail takes you upstream from the Carter's Lake where the river still makes some noise despite this year's dry spell. The lake is very low. So low, the boat ramp and dock are closed. We left the boat ramp parking lot at the main trail entrance down several steep stairs. After going about half a mile into the trail you'll crest a hill and turn slightly to the right. This is when you'll start to hear the tumbling waters to your left. There are large trees throughout the trail that will astonish you. Continue down the trail which brings you to a bridge that crosses the river about 50 feet above the water. After crossing the bridge, follow the trail to the right that will take you down to a serene place next to the river. After reaching the river, you can walk out on massive mountain rock to enjoy the cool breeze and take spectacular pictures. Be prepared. Some parts of the trail have unsure footing so be careful and wear hiking shoes with proper grip. There are steep grades on several occasions as any mountain hiking trail will have. I recommend this trail to any hiking enthusiast.

My family went on this trail when it was lightly snowing and it was really special, we loved the bridge over Tails Creek and the overlook at the top was awesome.
