Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 4 I hiked this trail in the early spring, starting at Springer Mt, and ending at Amicalola Falls. It's approximately 8 miles, and takes a few hours to complete. I only needed a day pack with plenty of water and some food.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 4 If you can make a side trip to the Len Foote Hike Inn for a night, well worth the trip.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 5 I did this trail as a part of a loop that included the return hike to the Amicalola Lodge via the Len Foote Hike Inn, and aging doesn't make it any easier. This time though, I almost made it to the southern tip of the A. T. before heading back to the Lodge, all within 10 hours hiking time. Smoky Mountain, and many constant ups, then downs make it somewhat difficult to almost strenuous when you are past 50. The best scenery to be found in early April is the rest they provide at the Hike Inn, and that is worth the walk. But if you are not prepared for more than ten miles of rugged terrain, turn right when the trails divide, lest your trail become more of a trial you may regret.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 3 Difficulty rating: 5 There is more to see along the Len Foote Hike Inn Trail, and they both are accessible from Amicalola. Very little level ground along the Approach Trail and The LFHI Trail, but if scenery is what you are looking for, turn right when the two trails split, but keep in mind that this will extend your distance to Springer if that is your destination. The stop at the Inn is well worth the time, as the hospitality is awesome, and the rest worthwhile. Donations are accepted for southern sweet tea, fruit, lemonade, and other items to keep you hydrated and energized. Spend the night and receive home ccoked meals as part of your stay.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 3 Difficulty rating: 5 Must do trip! Not much for real scenary, but high amount of difficulty, but worth the view at Springer, plus: its the AT Approach trail!

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 5 I hiked the trail from the visitor center at Amicalola Falls State Park to the summit of Springer Mtn. and back on May 10, 2008. The round trip took about 9 hours including lunch on Springer Mtn. at the shelter (there is a picnic table). The view at the top of Springer Mtn. is great. I would rate this hike as moderate with some difficult climbs and descents. Be prepared for insects. The trail was not crowded but I did encounter a fair number of other hikers. I found the return trip to be more difficult probably due to fatigue setting in. You need to be in shape to do this in a single day. I am still not sure why the Appalachian Trail starts/ends at Springer Mountain and not at Amicalola Falls SP which seems to be the natural beginning/end of the trail. This hike is a must for anyone interested in the Appalachian Trail and Georgia mountain hiking.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 3 Difficulty rating: 5 To avoid some pointless self-abuse, start at the top of the falls for a 12 mile round trip. Add a side trip to the Hike Inn, to add some of the omitted mileage back in.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 5 Starts out tough, but it has a great payout in the Falls and Springer. Camp just before Nimbwell Gap for a nice quiet night, just after the Len Foote sign. Loved it!
