Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 5 This can be a real challenge. My GPS distance read more like 7 miles after this hike. Several downed trees and poor trails make this more difficult.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 3 My idea of a perfect hike: Up-hill during the first half, next to a great stream the entire way, with a waterfall payoff at the end. The only part I found tricky was the last 100 yards--dogs and small children may have a problem with footing over loose rocks.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 4 My absolute favorite trail in Northeast Georgia! Very magical! Wear or take a bathing suit cause you will want to get in the water at the bottom of the falls as it forms a natural jacuzzi!!

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 2 Beautiful trail with lots of small falls on the creek as you walking to the top. It's a very unusual waterfall at the end, it falls through a big crack which is really nice. I would recommend stopping by Dukes' Creek trail on the drive up, it'll add about an hour to the trip.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 3 I have hiked this trail at least 8 times, maybe more. The scenery,it doesn't matter what time of year is beautiful. You never really leave the river and once you make it to the falls, it is breathtaking. I don't think that Raven Cliffs gets the exposure it deserves.

We did an afternoon day hike with our black lab today and had a great time. There is still a little snow and ice on the ground from the snow back on 1/17. There are also icicles hanging just around the cliffs, which add to the beauty of the trail.
For being so close to Helen, this trail is vastly un-noticed. While you will most always see other people on the trail, I've never had it so packed it was unpleasant. Great hike for families, children, and camping with 5-6 people. It's a great trail and not that difficult at all. Definitely recommend for everyone to give it a try.

I hiked this trail again today, again with my black lab, Maddie. The trail looks to be in good shape, and the water is flowing much better this year than last. Hopefully, this is a sign that the drought is coming to an end. The only thing that is disturbing is that this trail is short enough for those who just want to experiment with hiking. While that's normally a good thing, it also allows those who have no respect for nature to venture to the end of the trail, leaving in their wake a trail of litter and debris. For any of those who are not as familiar with hiking, the number 1 rule is to pack out more than you pack in, meaning you not only don't litter yourself, but you pick up any trash that you see along the way. Leave the place you find so beautiful better than the way you found it and all of us can continue to enjoy these trails.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 2 Beutiful Trail...hiked this one with a friend and his two dogs. They loved it! Don't worry about the heat; a cool breeze off the creek makes the hike enjoyable. Also, the trail had great places to hike in and camp; will have to try it next time.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 4 very nice walk to the waterfall. The waterfall is worth the trip. The trail can be a little steep and is about three miles to the end, but there are lots of places to rest and look at the river and smaller waterfalls. Even if you don't make it down the whole trail you wont be disapointed.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 4 This is easily one of the best trails I've been on in the past few years. The advisory at the top of the trail description paints a different picture than the trail itself presents. You more than likely will not get wet (giggity) as you don't actually cross a stream, but instead at one point the trail goes down to stream level. And I have yet to see anyone fishing. I'm not sure where you could even fish. One word of warning is that the actual trail can be tight a certain points and when we went we saw a couple of close calls between dogs trying to get at one another. The rule is the same as anywhere, if you have an aggressive or skiddish dog, keep them on a short leash and bring a muzzle if you cannot control them. Other than that, it's a great trail and there are 2 paths to the top of the overlook. One that involves climbing roots on the left and another straight ahead in which you climb up onto the hillside and follow the path to the left. The latter is easier and a better option if you have your dogs with you.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 2 Went backpacking on this trail in Sept. '08 with my little sister and brother (12 and 10 yo) and a neighborhood friend (14yo). They absolutely loved this trail and had fun climbing up the roots behind the falls and picnicing on top of the falls. There is a creek along the trail almost the whole time, and a great swimming hole about halfway through the trail if you can find a way down to it. There are plenty of opportunities to camp along the trail, and parking is free. The trail is well-maintained and the bridge is fixed now too.
I would recommend this as a trial to begin with if you want to get kids involved in backpacking.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 4 I recently hiked this trail for the 30th time. As I was ending the hike I noticed a letter from the Rangers who have now stated that the trail is, and I quote, a 3 mile one way hike, 6 mile roundtrip. For some reason I have always known that the trail was mor than 2.5 miles one way. Tahnsk, Duane Hayes

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 2 Simply an awesome trail, there are waterfalls everywhere and you never really leave the river. Dont let the description or the five ratings scare you off, this is any easy trail and the payoff at the end is awesome.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 3 It seems much longer than 5 miles (roundtrip). The waterfall is worth it, but the trail is pretty wet. It is steep in areas, but overall a pretty easy hike. Take a lunch and enjoy the falls when you get there! PS. Copperheads were out sunning themselves, so be on the lookout.

Overall rating: 5 Scenic rating: 5 Difficulty rating: 2 We were going to attempt this trail but the coordinates led us to Dukes Creek Falls trailhead and parking area. So, you might want to make sure you are at the correct parking lot or trailhead. The Raven Cliff Falls area is just a bit further if traveling on the Richard B. Russell Scenic Highway I believe coming from the Alpine Village of Helen. We saw the sign for it but didnt actually make it down the trail due to time after our hike at Dukes Creek Falls. I hope to try out Raven Cliff Falls Trail later, it sounds fun.
