To start - the directions in the trail guide are not that great as there are a few more roads that they don't tell you about that you should not turn onto. From 129 - once you get to the gravel road - stay right at all turns - Parking at the trail head is not easy to get to as the road in washed out and rutted. My little car would never have made it - I had the truck and still parted about .2 miles from the trail head at a power line clearing. Once on the trail - the start is nice and flat then once you start up the mountain, Town Creek traveling to the left of the trail. Small feeder streams cut across the trail and at time on the trail making it hard to keep feet dry. At the second feeder crossing the flow makes it impossible to continue and you have to go off the trail and cut though the brush. Here the trail is not marked well at all and you just have to keep an eye on the gully that forms the trail up past the stream. About 1 hour and 45 out - you reach a clearing where you cross the creek, (at the third fire circle) here it is only about 2 foot wide but still going uphill this is a good place to rest. The temps were still in the low 30's and since i stopped i was getting chilled and the heavyier coat went back on. here is where i turned about - I was tired and getting colder. -what took 1 hour 45 to reach - the return took only 1 hour. this is not a nice trail - bad markings and worst a rutted trail that you really had to watch your footing - ever though it was flat and wide - to many areas of wet and to much water.

Hiked May 30, 2009. Weather was great, warm, clear. The trail was wet due to the recent rains. Several sections had washed but the trail was in good shape, if your like walking on rocks. If you are alergic to Poison Ivy, don't go. The entire trail is heavy with it. Mountain Laurel are beginning to bloom and add a rare beauty to the trip. The road to the trail head is rough and water holes may cause a problem. A truck is recommended to get to the start. Overall, a beautiful trail with lots of water falls. Well worth the trip.

In order to get to this trail you ride down a long gravel road and may think you are not in the right place.....keep going until the the road dead ends. This was a great hike that crossed over a couple of creeks and ran along side another larger one. You truly feel like you are out there in the wilderness on this one. By the look of things this trail is not highly frequented, but the trail is marked great. I will definitely make time to hike this one again.
