This was a very beautiful hike. You can actually hike behind keown falls and sit on some rocks and watch the waterfall right in front of you. It's not a big waterfall but it is pretty.

Very scenic (especially in autumn), not too challenging, and perfect for a day out in the wood. We make a special trip every year.

Hiked this as a double loop from Keown Falls parking lot. From Keown, walking counter-clockwise, this makes quite a climb -- rising 850 feet in a relatively short period. The view at the top is well worth it however. Doing both loops makes this hike into about a 5 mile hike. Went after a few days of rain, so the waterfall was flowing at the time. Felt great to stick your head under the falls to cool off.

The hike back up is probably too much for small children.

did this trail on jan 1 2009. took my dog putter (redbone coonhound), it was his first hike. trail was good, primarily descent going clockwise from trailhead w/ lots of exposed roots and rocks. once you flatten out you can begin to hear the falls, once there we caught spray from the falls (cool!, literally and figuratively). putter seemed to enjoy jumping over downed trees and climbing rocks (think he fashioned himself as rin tin tin on top a few of those rocks). of course, he was scared to cross a small stream...go figure. the few from the overlook is absolutely amazing, that alone is worth the trip. excellent day hike for all.
