Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 3 From parking lot trail enters Blood Mountain Wilderness. The trail goes by a stream & a lot of rhododendron, it is also shaded by large hemlocks. Then the trail will meet the Freeman trail & the AT, this is where the Bryon Reece trail ends. A lot of people use this access trail for day use. It is usually busy, especially on weekends. Has a lot of parking.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 5 Great easy access to one of Georgia's highest points. It's a steep 2-2.5 miles to the top via this trail and the AT. Lots of outcroppings to explore at the top along with an old stone shelter. Fun after a recent snow too. This is a heavily used trail, so seclusion is not one of its selling points.

Overall rating: 4 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 5 The actual Reece trail is not difficult, but if you then continue on the blue trail, crossing the white AT, it is very difficult. Lots of rocks and climbing. Definitely bring lots of water.

Overall rating: 3 Scenic rating: 4 Difficulty rating: 3 The Byron Herbert Reece Access Trail is useful as a short trail to reach Blood Mountain (as opposed to the long approach from Vogel State Park). Otherwise, it is a boring trail! Blood Mountain is beautiful though and worth the climb.
