We hiked this one on Sat, 7/8/06. It was moderately strenuous at best. A nice 3.5 mile hike. The best part of this hike is that we met our new friends, Tom and Jean at the end of the hike and spent more time getting to know them than we did on the trail hike. Larry met a real Cherokee Indian Cheif. It was an enjoyable day.

The trail was nice, some of the sign were stolen and we had no idea what we were looking at. The blazes were also hard to follow past the picnic table. We ended up walking down a road that was blazed with the blue markers. We then had to walk down Hwy 53 to get back to a car.

Easy walk, good exercise. River section tends to be crowded - especially on summer & fall weekends. Trail into the WMA is not so heavily traveled as most stay at the river.

Beautiful trail! Beautifully blazed and beautifully maintained. Hike May 2007 and was very impressed. A mixture of gentle uphills and wide flat trail with strewn with pine straw. Mile 2 tops out on top of a ridge at a wondeful picnic table that crys out for lounging! this trail reminded me that there are wonderfol trails less than five miles long out there!

Although this is a very short trek I try to hike it at least a couple of times a year. It is close to my home.
