North Georgia Mountain
Outfitters, Ellijay

The Dog Hikers of Georgia has hiking the trails but the water in the river stream was so stinky and polluted for the dogs, we decided to find a different place. My clinic is across the street from the trails. Feel free to park in my parking lot on weekends. The trails are a great place for a short mountain bike training ride but keep an eye out for the rangers.

Great in town run for runners looking for a challenge. Trails are kept in good order. Some trees down, but quickly moved after storm. A great place to get away from Atlanta and the metro area.

I live right across the street in Chattahoochee Landing apartments and hike this trail at least three times a week. Other than the first quarter mile, it is very easy and pleasant, and a fun way to make your way down to the old dam on Vickery Creek. During the week it is only lightly used, but I've never been there on the weekend. Watch out for the paths veering off to the left of the main path...they tend to either be closed or have very large trees fallen across them.

Hiked trail on Sat, March 20. Excellent, though heavily used to Vickery Creek. Loop trail on top was significantly lower in usage. The parking lot was overflowing, difficult to turn around in. Left turn from Highway 9 difficult. Check mapquest.com for alternate route from GA 400. p.s. We are regular visitors to this site (georgiatrails.com).
