Freeway exit number have changed. Exit should be 41 from I-20. Pleasant hike, good for families. Some rock hopping, if you wish. Description is accurate. Enjoy

This trail is extremely easy for the first half, perfect for kids and a leisurely nature stroll. the second half is a little harder because you have to scramble over rocks. Parents probably will want to keep a close eye on young kids because there are a few precarious places where a fall could happen. Overall it's pretty easy, though.

Hiked the red to blue trail which is a 3.2 mile loop. Easy trail, well marked. The end of the red trail does have some ups and downs. The red trail follows the water. The blue trail coming back is more secluded and is through the woods, some inclines which necessitated me stopping to catch my breath a few times, but that was it. Very pretty fall foliage.

The first part of the trail (to the Mill) is easy whether you take blue or red. We took the red trail further in (to the Lookout) and found it a moderate to strenuous hike as it is another half mile with some serious up's and downs. The trail ends at some rocks that you have to climb to get to the next part of the trail (watch your step, they are tricky and slick). Then, if you decide to take the Blue Trail back (which we obviously did), be prepared for long walk (about two miles). All in all, a nice hike.

fairly easy, but keep a sharp eye out for tree roots and logs placed in the trail to control erosion! there is a steep set of steps that lead down to a observation platform near the factory ruins. good hike plus history!

I have been hiking once or twice a month at Sweetwater for 10yrs. The trail is one of the best in the Atlanta area. The ruins trail is nice, but is heavily used. I suggest the blue trail. It begins at the opposite end of the parking area (near the new visitor center). It meanders along and across small streams, which have diverse plant communities, for about a mile and then connects with the ruins trail. If you take a left at the junction (going away from the creek) the blue trail continues meandering along the ridge line for another mile or two and will intersect the ruins or white trail at the falls overlook. If follow the trail upstream from the overlook it will take you back to the ruins. That makes a good moderate 3-4 mile loop. Enjoy.

This was my first Trial Hiking experience and I am now addicted! What a wonderful way to get exercise. At the ruins I sat on a rock and dangled my feet in the water which was heavenly...We took the trail that follows the creek and it was a bit rocky and uneven...I liked it that way. The falls were OK but I liked the ruin area better. Dangled the feet in the water on the way back and felt refreshed the entire trip. this trail marked my first 2 miles of hiking and spurred many more.

We have hiked this trail at least 25 times. It's always enjoyable because of the different water levels, changes the looks for you.We also hike the complete trail around which is approximatly 5 miles. Our next trip ,we will look for a huge oak tree that is about 16 foot in diameter.
