I agree with Alan's directions. You DO take the left onto 77 at about 2.2 miles. After this you will eventually see 77A, DO NOT take this left, but rather stay on 77. I think that is where some of the confusion may have been in my directions

I have not hiked long creek falls, because we could not find it by going on the directions provided (the ones leading us from blue ridge, ga). a key direction was left out. When you get to the end of aksa road, turn right onto newport rd. Hopefully the directions will be updated for future hikers.

These directions will get you there. They're from the Dahlonega direction. From the intersection of Hwy. 9 and Hwy 52, go 4.7 miles West on 52 to Grizzle's store, turn right on Nimblewill Church Rd, go 2.3 miles until you see a brown Forest Service sign for Bull Mtn. Take that right, you're now on F.S. 28-1. Go downhill on that dirt road, past the sign for Bull Mtn parking lot, for 2.2 miles, there will be a road going off to your left, F.S. 77. Go up 77 for 5.2 miles, where you'll come to an intersection of 4 or 5 roads. Continue almost straight (not the two hard lefts) and take the road that's in the 11 o'clock position, which is F.S. 58. Continue for 2.7 miles and you'll see the trail signs and small parking area.Start hiking across the road and away from the wooden bridge. A nice easy hike up to the falls, keep going past the first water you hear, until you reach a trail junction and the sign pointing to the falls. Cheers

We hiked it on July 2, 2002. We are two couples with seven children ranging from 7 to 16 years. We walked slowly all the way in with one Mom and one child stopping very briefly to rest. Most of the kids ran the trail in and out. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to walking this trail again in the fall.

Hi everybody. I rechecked my directions and can follow them. I guess I should add that Bull Mountain is on Winding Stair Gap Road, so turn right at the Bull Mountain sign. The road is winding and steep in places, so I do agree it is not an easy drive and perhaps left to 4WD vehicles if wet. Thanks for the constructive criticism.

David, I went there last Friday using your instructions with my family...did not find it. We went past the Bull Mtn. Parking sign and never saw any other landmark you gave. I'm sure I did something wrong. I went all the way up to the Army post on the FS road. I never saw the weigh station or anything. What could I have done wrong?

I was just there yesterday. Here are some directions. I wrote them down as the trail guide ones aren't quite right. Three Forks is on FS 58. Going west on 52 from Dahlonega, go to the Grizzle Store (closed) and take a right onto Nimblewill Church/Creek Rd. Continue on Nimblewill Church until you see a sign for Bull Mtn and take a RIGHT (if you go 0.1 miles more, you'll see the small white Nimblewill Baptist Church). You start downhill on a dirt road. Continue on this road past the Bull Mtn Pkg lot sign. You'll see a road called High Rock Trail eventually on the right. DON'T take it. Go straight. In less than 1/2 mile you'll see a state game weighing station on the right. Continue straight. You'll see 77A on the left. DON'T take it. Continue straight. After a long stretch, you'll get to a funky split in the road and there are 4 options. One says Blue Ridge, one Ellijay, and ?. Ignore that sign. The leftmost is 42. The one to the right is unmarked Don't take either of the two leftmost. Vear to the left a little and take the one marked 58 with a small forest service sign. Continue on on a slight downhill with the creek on your left. Eventually you'll see a road marked ???? Cemetary to the right. Don't take it. Continue straight. You'll see the sign for the AT after another mile or so. Have fun!!!!

I had the same experience as the earlier writer. My sister and I ended up at the same area you did and we still can't figure out exactly where we were. We drove all the way to the top in my Honda Accord and nearly had a heart attack getting there for fear we would run off the extremly narrow road or get stuck in the huge rocks. It was not a good experience, but we would still like to locate the falls if anyone has directions that are acurate.

I never found the falls but it was a rewarding excursion. It took about 3 hours round trip. If you know where I was e mail me at kbj@mindspring.com.. I've looked at maps and pretty much decided I was at Nimble well Gap which must be on the Applachain trail. Happy Hiking!

I found Forest Road 28-8 which led along a creek and gradually wound up the inside face of I suppose, Nimblewell Gap. About halfway up the road, I parked my car and walked up the now failry steep fireroad. Afterabout 2 miles I came to a clearing with 3 road and a trail and a plaque marking the crash of a private plane in 1966?. I picked up the trail which was blue blazed and kept going for another mile. I never found the falls but it was a rewarding excursion. It took about 3 hours round trip. If you know where I was e mail me at kbj@mindspring.com.. I've looked at maps and pretty much decided I was at Nimble well Gap which must be on the Applachain trail. Happy Hiking!

It was my first time up and I could not locate the exact roads by name, according to the directions on this site. The road immediately after Grizzle's (Not Grizzard's) Store is named Nimblewell Church Road not Nimblewell Gap, maybe I did not go far enough west on Hwy. 52? Anyway, I found Forest Road 28-8 which led along a creek and gradually wound up the inside face of I suppose, Nimblewell Gap. About halfway up the road, I parked my car and walked up the now failry steep fireroad. Afterabout 2 miles I came to a clearing with 3 road and a trail and a plaque marking the crash of a private plane in 1966?.
