Trail is good and enjoyable. Advice of going up on East Ridge trail and coming down on Base of Falls trail is very good. Going up the steps on Base of Falls trail would be very strenous. Directions to Amicalola Park from Ga-400 is bad. It says to go on GA 400 to State Road 183 (Elliot Farms Road.) This road does not go off of GA 400, it turns right off of GA 53 west of Dawsonville. Going up GA 400, you should turn left onto GA 53 and go through Dawsonville and then turn right on State Road 183. There is a sign for Amicalola Park at this road.

Fabulous views and scenery!!! The trail is very difficult or strenous if you are not in very good shape.

hiked trail today 9/12/04.stopped at visitors center for a map and followed advice of others on this site on how to hike this trail.started w/two children 10 and 15 at the falls overlook and walked down( base of falls trail)on a never ending staircase i would not like to climb.falls are beautifull.we followed (base of falls trail)to the visitor center and then picked up (appalachian trail approach)trail that lead us back up to the falls overlook.about 1 mile down and 1 mile up.there is a A.T.shelter on the trail back up which gave us a look at what to expect if we decide to cover a longer portion of the trail.plan to hike to springer mt mid oct.we will definitly hike this agian

This trail is beautiful and surprisingly low key (been there three times and the trail was never saw many people there). The hardest part of the trail is actually walking up and down all the stairs. Strongly recommended!

This is a lovely and calm spot. The stairs can be a bit much, so be sure to take water and photo breaks. Thankfully, there are a good number of platforms so you can sit and take pictures of the breathtaking scenery.

We hiked this trail in 88 degree weather and that made it a little more difficult. If you plan to hike the other trails, make sure you have a good boot or shoe. The rocks and roots can make your feet s little sore

This was a beautiful trail. Everything was very peaceful and mellow. We went from the bottom to he top and I would strongly recommend that anyone who likes a great workout should walk this trail. It's all beautiful and it's a great place for photography.

This was my first serious workout in preparation for an Appalachian Trail hike (or two) this spring/summer. We hiked this trail with snowcover and it was BEAUTIFUL! Although I rated this trail DIFFICULT, at no time did I feel it difficult to proceed, even though there are several areas that approach thirty percent slope (not including steps/stairs). I look forward to re-doing this slope in every season...absolutely GEORGOUS...AND healthy!
