Atlanta
Take I-20 west to exit 41, Thorton Road. At the end of the ramp turn left and safely move to the right-hand lane. Turn right on Blairs Bridge Road (just past the Toyota dealership). Follow Blairs Bridge Road to Mt. Vernon Road and turn left at a four-way stop. (This is the marked route. For a good short-cut try Lynch Road) Just past the George F. Sparks Reservoir Factory Shoals Road comes off to the left. Follow it down to the parking lot, just past the visitors center. Return to the visitors center-the trail begins on the right-hand side as your facing the building.

Douglasville
Take I-20 to exit 41 (Lee Road) south. Turn left on Cedar Terrace Rd. At Mount Vernon Rd. turn left and continue down to Factory Shoals Road. Turn right and follow the signs to the parking lot. Trailhead for the historic trail is at the east end of the lot.
