Blairsville
From Blairsville, take U.S. 129 south for 7 miles. Turn right on Georgia 180 an continue to Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area. There are a number of parking places. The trail is extremely popular, so the closest one is usually full. By the lake before the first bridge is a parking area that normally has space.

Dahlonega
Take U. S. Highway 19 north to Stonepile Gap. At Stonepile Gap go straight on GA 60 (U. S. 19 veers right) north. In Suches take Georgia 180 east for 5 miles to Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area.
