Three Forks:

From Dahlonega: Take Highway 52 west to Grizzard's Store. Turn right on Nimblewill Gap Road. At 2.3 miles turn right on Winding Stair Gap Road (a dirt road that becomes F. S. 77). Travel 7.1 miles to Forest Service Road 42 and turn right. Take the first road to the left (Forest Service Road 58). Continue on FS 58 for 2.7 miles. At Three Forks there is some parking, but on weekends it is almost always full

Blue Ridge
From Blue Ridge: Take Old Highway 76 through town and turn right on Aska Road (first right after the 3-way stop sign. Continue on Aska Road until it dead-ends into Newport Road, turn right on Newport and continue down Newport. At the end of Newport turn left onto Doublehead Gap Road, which becomes a dirt road. Doublehead Gap is named for a powerful chief of the Cherokee Nation at the start of the 1800's. Aska was his winter home, which is the Cherokee translation of the word. Just past a church and cemetery the road narrows, then splits into three separate roads. Turn right onto FS58 and travel 5.4 miles to a widening in the road. This is Three Forks.

From Ellijay: Take GA Highway 52 east 7.6 miles. Turn left on Roy Road and continue 9.5 miles to Doublehead Gap Road (unmarked at this intersection). Bear right and go 4.85 miles. Turn right on FS 58 and travel 5.4 miles to Three Forks.

Note: The trail begins across the road from the footbridge.

Highway 60:From the Georgia Mountain Parkway take Highway 60 south for 13 miles. F. S. 816 (a dirt road) comes off to the right and the trail crosses the road. There is no developed parking here, but people do park along the roadside for dayhikes.
