Trails that run near streams
Running near a stream, brook or rivulet, these hikes permit exploration of fragile riparian zones (banks), sometimes dipping into the stream bed.

Amicalola Falls East Ridge Trail - Steady, strenuous climb to the top of Amicalola Falls.
Amicalola Falls Trail - Steep, staired descent along the face of the waterfall to the reflecting pond, with a return to the visitors center along the Base of Falls Trail
Anna Ruby Falls Trail - Anna Ruby Falls is a rare double falls. The falls are especially awesome after a shower.
Bear Creek Trail - Hike near Ellijay features one of North Georgia's largest trees, the Gannett poplar
Benton MacKaye, Sec. I - From Springer Mountain to Three Forks, Section I of the Benton Mackaye Trail takes you along the high ridge of the Appalachian Mountains.
Benton MacKaye, Sec. II - Remote hike into the Chattahoochee National Forest
Big Rock Nature Trail - Fun hike at Fort Mountain State Park that takes hikers to Gold Mine Creek Falls
Big Trees Trail - Explores 30-acre Big Trees Forest in Sandy Springs
Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center Trails - Visits lakes and rivers with abundant wildlife throughout the hike
Chickamauga Creek Trail - On Pigeon Mountain, this trail loops around the Tennessee Valley Divide.
Coleman River Trail - This is a quick, good trail, but watch out for the bridges.
Desoto Falls Trail - Great hike alongside Frogtown Creek to the middle falls. Lower falls are near the trailhead.
Dockery Lake Trail - Acceess to the Appalachian Trail. Dockery Lake, at the trailhead offers fishing and camping.
Emery Creek Trail - From North Georgia's Cohutta Loop, this trail drops hundreds of feet to Emery Creek.
Falls Branch Falls - Follows a section of the Benton MacKaye Trail to a side trail leading to Falls Branch Falls.
Hemlock Falls Trail - Great hike alongside a gurgling stream to a pretty waterfall.
Horse Trough Falls Trail - This brief leg-stretch is marked by the first bridge across the Chattahoochee River
Logan Turnpike - At first easy, the last mile climb to the Appalachian Trail is difficult.
Long Creek Falls - Follows the Appalachian Trail to the blue blazed Long Creek Falls side trail.
Mathis Trail - A 1.0 mile hike that takes you through a diverse hardwood forest and crosses Elachee Creek
Mill Shoals Trail - Mill Shoals is actually a fun trail, without a lot of hard walking or scenic views.
Mountaintown Creek Trail - Trail follows Mountain Creek to the Cohutta Loop.
Newtown Trail - Newtown Trail explores a lowland river and high overlook that held the overflow during Council Meetings at the Cherokee Capital of New Echota
Oxbo Trail - Explores the north end of the oxbow in Vickery (Big) Creek, then climbs Hog Waller Creek to a historic Roswell park
Panther Creek Trail - Challenging point-to-point hike past smaller falls, cascades and Panther Creek Falls.
Picketts Mill - Hiking trails that explore important areas of the Battle of Picketts Mill
Raven Cliff Falls Trail - Trail follows Dodd Creek to Raven Cliff Falls. Multiple falls and cascades make this an enjoyable hike.
Slaughter Creek Trail - Probably the easiest access trail to the AT in Georgia, hikers use it for access to Blood Mountain
Smith Creek Trail - The trail runs near the ridge top of Smith Mountain and follows, but does not come near, Smith Creek.
Sosebee Cove - Loop trail through diverse north-facing cove near Vogel State Park.
Suwanee Greenway - Interpreted multi-use trail that follows Suwanee Creek
Sweetwater White - Wanders along a ridge, then plunges to Sweetwater Creek River Valley
Vickery Creek Trail Complex - Complex of interwoven trails that circle a knob on the Chattahoochee River
Wolfden Loop - This loop hike includes the Pine Mountain Trail between mile marker 18 and 23 and the Beaver Dam Trail
